Engineer Isaac Clarke fights grotesque Necromorphs aboard the mining ship USG Ishimura after a mysterious Marker artifact drives the crew mad. He battles both the monsters and his own fracturing mind while searching for answers and the woman he loves. Dead Space follows engineer Isaac Clarke as he arrives at the USG Ishimura, a vast planet-cracker mining vessel that has gone silent in deep space. Expecting a routine repair job, Isaac instead finds the ship overrun by Necromorphs—twisted, reanimated corpses created by an alien artifact called the Marker. Armed mainly with improvised mining tools that double as weapons, he must dismember the creatures limb by limb while navigating blood-slick corridors, zero-gravity sections, and failing life-support systems. Hallucinations of his girlfriend Nicole Brennan begin to plague him, blurring the line between real danger and psychological collaps
