Twelve-year-old Mia and her scruffy pet rat Quentin are packed off to Rotwood Academy, a creepy school full of real monsters, and must keep her human identity secret while the vice principal hunts for outsiders. Monster Mia follows Mia, a twelve-year-old girl whose repeated trouble at ordinary school lands her and her pet rat Quentin at the mysterious Rotwood Academy. The place immediately gives her the creeps: every classmate appears to be some kind of creature, and the halls feel designed for beings who are not human.
