After the Malmedy Massacre, a small band of American soldiers and a downed British airman must cross frozen Belgian countryside held by German forces, relying on grit, limited supplies, and one medic’s quiet faith to reach Allied lines. Saints and Soldiers follows Corporal Nathan “Deacon” Greer, a soft-spoken medic whose religious convictions shape how he treats both wounded comrades and enemies after he and several other GIs escape the Malmedy killings. Separated from their unit in the snowy Ardennes, Deacon joins Sergeant Gordon Gunderson, Private Shirley Kendrick, Private Steven Gould, and the rescued British flight sergeant Oberon Winley as they try to slip through occupied territory.
