Labeled WOKE

These shows are out of the catalog because the community deemed them woke: at least 10% of members who weighed in filed a published criterion, and a written reason reached a net +5. Search still finds them — with the reason attached. Movies, TV, games, podcasts, vidcasts, and stand-up all use the same labels. Open a show to read the argument, then +1 or −1 it — once per member, per reason. If that rank falls below +5, the omit does not hold and the show returns to the review queue.

DEFINE ‘woke’.

The term ‘woke’ is best defined as an intolerant and moralizing ideology. Like its cousin ‘canceled’ the phrase bespeaks ‘political correctness’ gone awry. Though “woke” has its roots in anti-racism, it was mis-used so often that it lost any and all remnants of its original meaning. To be clear, we are very much against racism however the ‘woke’ term no longer is associated with it.

It was the word’s constant mis-use which ultimately caused it to represent all the problematic attempts to redefine society to conform to a very small minority’s understanding of how the world should operate. Those that promote woke culture as an expression of virtue are typically oblivious to the rot they impose on society. Some are even aware of that rot and still choose to promote it.

WHY MAKE THIS?

Culture defining art-forms such as TV, MOVIES, PODCASTS, GAMES, STAND UP COMEDY and more all play a major role in guiding the general societal conversation. We don’t like the way it has been guided lately and know others feel the same. Rather than complain or not partake in any of these activities, we feel that NOT WOKE SHOWS should be identified and rewarded with our ad-watching eyes, listening ears as well as our spendable dollars. The best way to do this is to simply identify and promote them when found.
